October’s SCAVENGER HUNT: Pumpkin Who?

THERE WERE OVER  100 ENTRIES TO THE Pumpkin Who? CONTEST.  CONGRATULATIONS to CONNOR, age 6 whose entry was pulled to win the $26 gift card.  During the entire month of October, find the 9 costumes that Pumpkin is trying on in the library!  Then pick up an entry form, and draw the costumes on the pumpkins.  Entry forms can be picked up in the children’s area beginning October 1, and must be submitted by October 31.  All correct ballots... Congratulations to the nearly 500 patrons who signed up for the 2016, Read for the Win, Summer Reading Program at the San Carlos Branch Library.  Special kudos go to the over 300 readers who met their reading goals and won books and prizes.  Keep on reading! NOVEMBER 12: San Carlos Gone By

San Carlos resident, Becky Green, has decided to undertake a momentous task, and is asking for your help.  Becky, who is a longtime resident, had an elderly neighbor who often asked if she would like to see his pictures of San Carlos in its early days.  As a person who loves local stories and old photos, she always said, "yes," but the visit never came to fruition; her neighbor passed; the pictures are gone; her memory of a lost opportunity... CONGRATULATIONS Victoria Crisologo

Congratulations to P.H.H.S. 10th grader Victoria Crisologo who was one of the 14 Grand Prize winners of the 19th annual "Student Writing for Literacy Library Essay Contest."  She was one of three local winners, out of 266 locally submitted essays, that competed against 1197 city wide entries.  Victoria received a laptop computer donated by Computers 2SD Kids and additional awards which were presented on May 5, at the Balboa Park Club.   Present for the ceremony were her P.H.H.S.
