Kids 2018 “ONE BOOK” Selection

 The companion 2018, "One Book" chosen for kids is "Blue Sky, White Stars."  It is a picture book written by Sarvinder Naberhaus and illustrated by New York Times bestselling and Caldecott-honor winning artist Kadir Nelson. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten

 A literacy program for pre-readers, ages 5 and under.  1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a reading incentive program that encourages parents to read 1000 books to their children before they begin Kindergarten.  The program is based upon evidence from research findings that the more young children hear books read to them, the more prepared they will be to learn to read upon reaching kindergarten. This program will reconvene with the start of the new school year on MONDAY, AUGUST 27, 2018. At the San Carlos Branch, DO YOUR HOMEWORK @ THE LIBRARY for Grades K-8, meets Mondays & Thursdays: 3:00-6:00; Tuesdays & Wednesdays: 3:00-7:00.
