Our City Council-member Raul Campillo has notified SCFOL that a "No Further Action" letter from the Water Quality Control Board, regarding the Golfcrest & Jackson lot, been received by the City of San Diego. Stantec has removed the remediation wells and will be resurfacing the lot.
The City holds an "Option to Buy" for this property, and this "No Further Action" notice opens the door for the City to purchase the lot for the library, once notified of its availability. Continue Reading >
Our 7th District City Councilmember Raul Campillo has been closely following the completion of the mitigation of the Jackson and Golfcrest corner lot, and working to keep the City on track toward the lot's purchase which will then allow for the building of a new San Carlos Branch Library on that site. The chain link fence erected in January around the Jackson and Golfcrest corner lot has been removed. This hopefully indicates that the remediation equipment has been removed, and the remediation company can submit its final report to the Water Quality Control Board. If the WQCB agrees that remediation is complete, this will allow them to issue a "No Further Action" certificate for the property.

The San Carlos Library remains in a hurry up and wait mode. A request for a “Case Closure” for the project was submitted to the County Department of Environmental Services by the mitigation consultant, Santec. DES reviewed the comments and has sent a request for addition information.
