Over 14,000 pins were collected by San Diego Library patrons during the Library Shop's July, 2023, 5th annual summer Where's ODI? @ SDPL scavenger hunt. A small version of ODI was hidden in each of the 36 branches. Each branch created its own uniquely designed collectable pin. We have one last chance to make sure that the City Council includes the Library’s priorities in the Fiscal Year 2024 budget. Councilmember's Final Budget Memos are due *next Friday* (May 26), and it’s vital that they include funding for
8 full-time Youth Service Librarians,
$250,000 to increase the Books and Materials budget, and

Last month, SCBL said good-bye to our much loved Library Assistant Megan Reed. Megan worked at the San Carlos Branch Library for about eleven years, assisting patrons and staff alike. Megan was the talented creator of all of those fliers you see every day at the library promoting coming attractions and "what's happing" that day. For six years, kids ages 3-8, had loads of fun and learned a love of creating works of art at Reed's Thursday after-school Process-Focused-Art classes.

Are Robots awesome? You bet! On April 15, 2023, the SCBL held its 5th Robotics Extravaganza. Over 287 people attended the show brought to you by the efforts of the San Carlos Branch Library's Managing Librarian, David Ege, 10 Navajo Robotics teams (75 team members were present), and the Fire Department' Bomb Squad.
