As I reflect back over 2015, I am both amazed and proud of the work which the Friends of the San Carlos Branch Library has accomplished.
This year, through monies raised from our monthly Used Book Sales, membership dues and donations, the San Carlos Friends of the Library were able to donate $23,000 to the Library Foundation. On November 5, from 11:00 to 2:30, we invite the San Carlos Branch Library patrons to stop by the library and bid Rita a fond farewell, while enjoying a piece of cake in her honor. Our beloved Managing Librarian, Rita Glick, will be retiring on November 6, 2015. She and her husband Bill are relocating to the mid-west to be closer to family, especially their grandchildren.

This year has been another active and outstanding year for the Friends of the San Carlos Library.
The Friends of the San Carlos Branch Library donated $23,000 to the San Diego Library Foundation. This money is then matched dollar for dollar by the City budget and is designated for the San Carlos Library and can be used for program services, equipment and new books for our collection.

The Summer Reading Program ended on August 15. A total of 416 patrons finished and recorded their summer reading goals out of the 708, in all age groups, who signed up. Despite the inconvenience of on-going construction, 499 attended the Wednesday SRP special programs and 150 youth joined Ms. Megan in our new Process Art program which will continue during the Fall.
