SD Libraries Will Lose Funding in 2026
Negotiations are still underway before the City of San Diego's final 2025-26 fiscal year budget is voted on June 10. As a result of previous City Council budget meetings, the San Diego Public Library system is scheduled to lose $8million in funding. As of July 1, 2025, this loss of funding may result in the closing of all 37 Branch Libraries on Sunday and Monday, but will allow programs and services to remain the same Tuesday-Saturday. The library book club meets monthly on the 3rd Thursday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Winer Family Community Room & Art Gallery. The current Book Club Flyer Summer titles are on reserve at the front desk. Just ask the librarian for a copy and check it out. For more information, please call the library at 619-527-3430.

Another year has flown by, and the San Carlos Branch Library continues to be a very busy center of our Community. I have been amazed at the number of people who attend our programs and events. We thank all of the people who arrange these events for us. The San Carlos Branch Library was THE place for opportunity, discovery and inspiration in 2017. We had many participants at our monthly programs and great attendance at our feature events. Our annual Summer Reading Program helped children to bridge the gap between the school years and our adult patrons were entertained by our author and educational programs.
