Library Book Club
The library book club meets monthly on the 3rd Thursday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Winer Family Community Room & Art Gallery. The current titles are on reserve at the front desk. Just ask the librarian for a copy and check it out. For more information, please call the library at 619-527-3430.

Robots Seize the Day
2019's Robotics Showcase Extravaganza was an awe-inspiring success.
Teams with great names like Creator Critters, Dailard Elementary Mechanical Dolphins, Dapper Robo-Noodles, Magnolia Science Academy NextGen and MagnoBricks, Wizalos, Cajon Park B1nary Drag0ns, Crescendo, Lakeside Middle Broncobots and Patrick Henry High Patribots, all showed off the robots that they designed, built, and what they can do. Welcome Olga Castellanos
We wish a warm welcome to Olga Castellanos; she is our new part-time, Library Assistant 3. Castellanos has worked for the San Diego Public Library system for 29 years serving in the South Bay. Olga says, " I enjoy hiking and spending time with my husband of 30 years and with my 10-year-old son, both named David. I am excited about working and serving the community at the San Carlos Branch Library."

SCFOL Volunteers
In 2018, sixty-three SCFOL volunteers donated a total of 4737 hours to support the San Carlos Branch Library; that is equivalent to 2.4 FTEs. One FTE is equal to one full-time (40 hr/week) employee. 3064 hours were spent sorting your donated books, working at SCFOL's 1st Saturday of every month Used Book Sale or the previous day's FSDPL Members Only sale. We Need Your Support to Keep Our Libraries Open
The time of year is rapidly approaching when the San Diego City Council and Mayor will be submitting their Budget proposals for the 2019-20 fiscal year, which begins July 1, 2019.
Last month, the Library Commission revealed that the San Diego Public Library system is facing a proposed 3% budget cut next fiscal year. Not wanting to cut programs, we may be see a decrease in the Libraries’ hours of operation.
