Negotiations are still underway before the City of San Diego's final 2025-26 fiscal year budget is voted on June 10. It will not be finalized until signed by San Diego's Mayor Todd Gloria on June 15, 2025
As a result of previous City Council budget meetings, the San Diego Public Library system is scheduled to lose $8million in funding. As of July 1, 2025, this loss of funding may result in the closing of all 37 Branch Libraries on Sunday...

The library book club meets monthly on the 3rd Thursday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Winer Family Community Room & Art Gallery. The current Book Club Flyer Summer titles are on reserve at the front desk. Just ask the librarian for a copy and check it out. For more information, please call the library at 619-527-3430.

This year, the Annual General Membership Meeting of the FSDPL will be held virtually on May 14 from 10:00 - noon. Members from all SDPL Friends chapters are invited to join in. The Friends of the San Diego Public Library Annual Meeting will include Board elections plus exciting Library and Friends updates by speakers you won't want to miss! Our 7th District City Councilmember Raul Campillo has been closely following the completion of the mitigation of the Jackson and Golfcrest corner lot, and working to keep the City on track toward the lot's purchase which will then allow for the building of a new San Carlos Branch Library on that site. In Campillo's April Newsletter, he updated his San Carlos constituents on the status of the project, and has graciously approved the article to be reproduced in its entirety... 
LIBRARY HOURS: Monday & Tuesdays: 11:30 am - 8:00 pm; Wednesday thru Saturday: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm. The library is now open at 100% occupancy, and water fountains are open.
