The chain link fence erected in January around the Jackson and Golfcrest corner lot has been removed. This hopefully indicates that the remediation equipment has been removed, and the remediation company can submit its final report to the Water Quality Control Board. If the WQCB agrees that remediation is complete, this will allow them to issue a "No Further Action" certificate for the property.

The San Carlos Library remains in a hurry up and wait mode. A request for a “Case Closure” for the project was submitted to the County Department of Environmental Services by the mitigation consultant, Santec. DES reviewed the comments and has sent a request for addition information. FEBRUARY, 2017: The discussion at the Building Committee meeting this month centered on fund raising for the new library. We are anxiously awaiting the written reports on the status of the corner lot. A major fund raising campaign cannot begin until the EPA has given an all clear report to purchase the lot.
