SD Libraries Will Lose Funding in 2026
Negotiations are still underway before the City of San Diego final 2025-26 fiscal year budget is voted on in May. As a result of the April City Council meetings, the San Diego Public Library system is scheduled to lose $8million in funding. As of July 1, 2025, this loss of funding will result in the closing of all 37 Branch Libraries on Sunday and Monday, which will allow programs and services to remain the same Tuesday-Saturday.

In June, we said goodbye to two wonderful ladies, awesome library assistants and friends.....Sheila Rudolph after 35 years, and Bonnie Cameron after 37 years of dedicated service at the San Carlos Branch Library. We wish them both health and happiness in the years to come, and hope to see them often around the Branch and neighborhood.

Saturday May 7, is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY at the San Carlos Branch library. Come in any time from 9:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. to pick up your free comic book while the supply lasts. Our 4th, In-person ROBOTICS Showcase Extravaganza, co-sponsored by the San Carlos Branch Library and the Henry Cluster STEMM Foundation, will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 10 am - 1 pm, in the San Carlos Branch Library's Lower Parking Lot. Additional interactive STEM activities will be happening in the library's Winer Family Community Room. The public is invited to join us in this FREE, super fun event.
