On Saturday, May 23, the SCBL held its 9th Robotics Extravaganza. The event was organized by San Carlos Branch Library’s Managing Librarian, David Ege and sponsored by the San Carlos Friends of the Library, who provided a delicious free lunch to all attendees. ALL AGES WELCOME!!
Saturday, May 23, 10 am – 1 pm, the robots are returning to the San Carlos Branch Library. In the library’s lower parking lot, at the corner of Jackson & Golfcrest, competitive robotic clubs from local schools and San Diego neighborhoods will show off their robot creations.

This past Saturday February 21st, San Carlos Branch Library had our first Lunar New Year Celebration. There was a presentation by the Hsi Fang Temple and a Lion Dance performance by GDPT Chanh Kien. It was a great event and we're thankful to everyone who came and enjoyed!

The San Carlos Branch Friends of the Library held its 2025 Annual Membership Meeting this week, bringing members together to celebrate another year of community support and library advocacy.
Members approved the 2026 Board of Officers, setting the stage for another active year. The group also discussed plans for next year’s events, including more creative use of the lower parking lot to host gatherings and increase community engagement.

San Carlos Branch Library had 1110 patrons register for the annual Summer Reading Program, 898 of whom met the goal of reading 10 books, reading 10 hours, or completing 10 activities to earn prizes such as museum passes and free books! (159 adults, and 739 kids) We also had 7 successful summer programs including music, art, stories, and science at the San Carlos Branch to celebrate the summer reading program.
