San Diego Councilmember Raul Camillo ,in his November District 7 Dispatch, announced that "The owner of the lot next to the San Carlos Library has finally notified the city that the land is ready to be purchased by the City. This means that City staff will bring forward a council action before February 2, (2023), to close escrow for the previously agreed upon price of $150,000 negotiated back in 1995. This year’s Annual SCFOL General Membership Meeting will be held Wednesday, November 16, 4:00-5:30 pm, in the San Carlos Branch Library's Winer Family Community Room & Art Gallery. The meeting’s agenda will include:

Albert Elguira, another favorite librarian, is retiring October 4, 2022. Albert, an expert chess player, has been encouraging San Carlos youngsters to learn and improve their chess skills at our Chess Club which meets 2nd & 4th Tuesdays from 5-7 pm. He oversaw the Club's championship competition in Summer of 2022.
We wish him fun travels and fun times in his retirement, but hope he will be able to continue to play lots of chess at the San Carlos Branch....
