SD Libraries Will Lose Funding in 2026
Negotiations are still underway before the City of San Diego's final 2025-26 fiscal year budget is voted on June 10. As a result of previous City Council budget meetings, the San Diego Public Library system is scheduled to lose $8million in funding. As of July 1, 2025, this loss of funding may result in the closing of all 37 Branch Libraries on Sunday and Monday, but will allow programs and services to remain the same Tuesday-Saturday. A quick reference for youth special events and recurring activities through the end of the year:
The library book club meets monthly on the 3rd Thursday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Winer Family Community Room & Art Gallery. The current Book Club Flyer Summer titles are on reserve at the front desk. Just ask the librarian for a copy and check it out. For more information, please call the library at 619-527-3430.

The numbers are in for the 2024 Summer Reading Program for the San Carlos Branch. We had 1190 registrations and 944 finishers. Congratulations to all. A whopping 952 youth and their families attended the 8 special summer programs offered this year at the San Carlos Branch Library. Thank you all for your attendance. See you again next year.
