We wish to THANK everyone who has ever become a Member of the San Carlos Friends of the Library. We also express our appreciation and gratitude for those who have sent us donations in honor or memory of others. SCFOL funds are used to purchase new materials, programs, and equipment that enhance the patron experience at the current San Carlos Branch Library and that of the new proposed Branch.

Annually, the San Carlos Friends of the Library donates to the San Carlos Branch Library. Most of these funds, and those donated by other Friends chapters, are sent to the Library Foundation and annually matched by the City of San Diego, up to the City's budgeted amount.. This is called the City of San Diego Library Matching Fund. Each Friends Chapter's donation plus the Matching Funds, are then distributed back to the branches to purchase books, materials, equipment, and programs...

Lifelong Learning at the Library
In November, 2023, the San Diego City Council approved the new new vision for the SDPL. The San Diego Public Library Commission and the Library Foundation SD worked together to develop this MASTER PLAN to provide a long-range vision and strategy for San Diego Public Library facilities, technology, and program investments. Over 14,000 pins were collected by San Diego Library patrons during the Library Shop's July, 2023, 5th annual summer Where's ODI? @ SDPL scavenger hunt. A small version of ODI was hidden in each of the 36 branches. Each branch created its own uniquely designed collectable pin. Over 150 patrons collected all 36 unique pins after finding ODI at all 36 branch libraries. WOW! That kept those families busy during July! ODI often visits the branches for special...
