Join local author Jim Kempton at the SCBL, April 26, 2-3 pm, as he tells us about the details of his latest book, Women on Waves. Kempton is the award-winning former editor-in-chief of Surfer magazine and is the current President of the California Surf Museum. His new book brings readers a captivating cultural history of surfing with a focus on women and how they have made their mark on the sport and our wider culture. Each month, the San Carlos Friends of the Library sponsors artists who show their works in the San Carlos Branch Library's Winer Family Community Room & Art Gallery which may be entered through the double doors in the Children's area or the doors just inside the left side entrance to the library. The art takes many forms and is not limited to watercolor, oils or photography. Admission is FREE to all Art shows and Receptions.

Portraits by Patty Palenschat will be on display April 3-29, in the Winer Family Community Room & Art Gallery of the San Carlos Branch Library. Palenschat creates realistic sculptures and paintings of people and animals. Her subjects come to life on canvas, including her own self portrait. Although not on display, there will be photographs to view of some of her completed sculptures. Check them out at her reception. Palenschat is not planning to have an artist reception....
