Negotiations are still underway before the City of San Diego's final 2025-26 fiscal year budget is voted on June 10. It will not be finalized until signed by San Diego's Mayor Todd Gloria on June 15, 2025
As a result of previous City Council budget meetings, the San Diego Public Library system is scheduled to lose $8million in funding. As of July 1, 2025, this loss of funding may result in the closing of all 37 Branch Libraries on Sunday...

The library book club meets monthly on the 3rd Thursday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the Winer Family Community Room & Art Gallery. The current Book Club Flyer Summer titles are on reserve at the front desk. Just ask the librarian for a copy and check it out. For more information, please call the library at 619-527-3430.
Join us for fun and engaging STEM presentations and projects at the library!
On the third Tuesday of the month, elementary and middle school students will work on a variety of science and math activities. This program is hosted by the Patrick Henry High School Junior Innovators Club with materials funded by SCFOL.

Four of SCFOL's dedicated volunteers, Christine Khouri, Jaxon Cox, and Debbie & Dan Pittman, were honored at the Friends of the San Diego Public Library's annual membership meeting held on June 14, 2025. Their time, energy, and enthusiasm help make our monthly book sales a success. We're so grateful for all they do! 
What can we learn about history from historical novels? Blaine Davies, M.A., Professor of U.S. History, describes U.S. historical novels and explains how they help us better experience the dramatic events that shaped our nation firsthand. Professor Davies describes a wide range of U.S. historical novels dealing with almost every aspect of U.S. history and discusses how a well-written novel makes history come alive.
