SD Libraries Will Lose Funding in 2026

Negotiations are still underway before the City of San Diego's final 2025-26 fiscal year budget is voted on June 10.  As a result of previous City Council budget meetings,  the San Diego Public Library system is scheduled to lose $8million in funding.  As of July 1, 2025, this loss of funding may result in the closing of all 37 Branch Libraries on Sunday and Monday, but will allow  programs and services to remain the same Tuesday-Saturday. JULY 1-31: “Where’s Odi?” Scavenger Hunt @ All Library Locations

During July, the library's mascot, Odi the Coyote, is hiding inside every branch of the San Diego Public Library.  If you find Odi at the San Carlos Branch Library,  you can get your passport stamped, and collect a special button (supplies limited!).
