Friends of Library groups are supported by a division of the American Library Association. The idea of Friends of Libraries organisations in America, dates back to the 18th century. Early supporters of the concept include notables Benjamin Franklin and Andrew Carnegie. Friends groups are non-profit 501(3)(c) organisations, open to everyone. They support their community library by raising funds from used book sales, memberships & donations, to purchase books, equipment, and programs for their Library..
The San Carlos Friends of the Library has been an active supporter of the San Carlos Branch since May 15, 1982. SCFOL has 117 Life Members whose names are displayed on the wall in our Winer Family Community Room & Art Gallery, plus another 120-200 annual members. In recent years, SCFOL annually donates in excess of $20,000 to our Branch for its above needs. Won’t you JOIN SCFOL in celebrating all that the Friends do for our libraries?
