Four of SCFOL’s dedicated volunteers, Christine Khouri, Jaxon Cox, and Debbie & Dan Pittman, were honored at the Friends of the San Diego Public Library’s annual membership meeting held on June 14, 2025. Their time, energy, and enthusiasm help make our monthly book sales a success. We’re so grateful for all they do!
Christine Khouri
For the past four years, Christine has been a steady and creative force behind the children’s area at our monthly book sales. Her thoughtful setup makes the space inviting for families, and she’s always ready to assist shoppers looking for specific titles. Her care and kindness have made her a beloved part of our volunteer team.
Jaxon Cox
A new senior at Patrick Henry High School, Jaxon began volunteering with the Friends in the summer of 2023. He’s a huge help at book sales, hauling tables and boxes during setup and takedown. In addition to his help on sale days, Jaxon attends board meetings and offers a valuable younger perspective. He’s also assisting Bill Bischoff with scanning and preserving historical records. We’re so grateful for his initiative and dedication!
Debbie and Dan Pittman
Since 2022, Debbie and Dan have been an integral part of our Saturday sale crew. Rarely missing a month, they arrive early to sweep, set up signs, hang the tarp, and help bring out books and tables. Always ready to pitch in wherever needed, they bring a can-do attitude to every sale day. Their behind-the-scenes efforts help create a smooth and welcoming experience for everyone, and we’re so appreciative of all they do.
