Kathy Ruiz, SCFOL Board/Membership Chair, 2024
SCFOL Membership Chair, Kathy Ruiz, joined the San Carlos Friends of the Library in 2018, soon after her retirement from the City of San Diego. Ruiz was elected to the SCFOL Board in 2024, replacing Bobbi Dennis. Bobbi retired in 2024 from the Board and as Membership Chair; she also served over 20 years as a Book Sale Cashier. We thank Bobbi for all of her hours volunteering, and welcome Kathy Ruiz to the SCFOL Board and as our new Membership Chair. She will do a great job welcoming new and returning SCFOL members alike, as well as keeping our membership records organized.
Ruiz previously worked for 30 years with the City of San Diego in various capacities, with her last post as a Division Head in the Parks and Recreation Department. Ruiz has always had a passion for books and libraries. Her work on the Board as well as supporting monthly book sales by sorting donations and assisting during the sales themselves, feeds that passion. As a 30+ year resident of the Del Cerro/San Carlos area, Kathy loves playing an active part in the community by her work with the library. An avid hiker, Kathy also volunteers at Mission Trails Regional Park. We love our Volunteers.
