Robotics Extravaganza 2026!

On Saturday, May 23, the SCBL held its 9th Robotics Extravaganza.  The event was organized by San Carlos Branch Library’s Managing Librarian, David Ege and sponsored by the San Carlos Friends of the Library, who provided a delicious free lunch to all attendees. Big thanks to everyone who attended to make this such a fun event.

Several teams brought their entries from the First Tech Challenge (FTC) in which teams of high school students design, build, and program robots to compete in a head-to-head challenge. Teams work together to create a robot that can score points by completing this y

ear’s task of  sweeping up balls and shooting baskets of various heights.

There was lots of interactive fun for kids attending, with tables for building marble tracks, Keva planks, and vibrating bristle bots, as well as getting to try out a variety of robots and interacting with an incredible robot dog.
