September 1 – November 3: Photographer Todd Teetzel

September 1 – November 3, we will feature artwork by Todd Teetzel in the Winer Family Community Room & Art Gallery of the San Carlos Branch Library. Join us in welcoming Todd at his Artist Reception on Saturday 9/19, noon – 2:00 p.m.

Todd Teetzel’s ocean photography is rooted in a lifelong connection to the Southern California coast. Drawn to the ocean through surfing, diving, and photography, his work explores the ever-changing relationship between water, light, and movement. Working primarily at sunrise, Teetzel seeks moments when calm winds, emerging light, and shifting swells come together. His process is deeply connected to the natural environment, with weather, surf conditions, swell, and location all shaping the experience and the resulting image.

Using a water housing, he enters the surf to photograph waves from the water, creating an intimate and immersive perspective. At the heart of Teetzel’s work is a desire to convey the sense of peace and renewal he experiences at the beach. Through the interplay of light, color, form, and motion, his photographs invite viewers to slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience the beauty of
the ocean.
