SD Libraries Will Lose Funding in FY 2025-2026 San Diego Budget
Negotiations are still underway before the City of San Diego’s final 2025-26 fiscal year budget is voted on June 10. It will not be finalized until signed by San Diego’s Mayor Todd Gloria on June 15, 2025
As a result of previous City Council budget meetings, the San Diego Public Library system is scheduled to lose $8million in funding. As of July 1, 2025, this loss of funding may result in the closing of all 37 Branch Libraries on Sunday and about half of the branches on Mondays, but will allow programs and services to remain the same Tuesday-Saturday. Homework Help at the Library may also be reduced from 18 to 10 locations. We will keep you posted on hour changes and closures in our next Newsletter.
