Currently, Naughton is a freelance illustrator, but for 17 years, he was an animator with Walt Disney Studios, working on almost every feature film produced by Disney from 1985-2002. Some of his credits include, “the Beast” in Beauty and the Beast; “the Genie” in Aladdin, and “Zazu” in the Lion King, to name a few.
Naughton tells us, “Throughout my career at Disney, I’ve maintained my freelance illustration work. I’ve illustrated Peter Mayhew’s (Chewbacca) children’s book, My Favorite Giant. My works also include National Football League book illustrations, sculpted sports action figures, story boards and some motion picture work with Warner Brothers.” Naughton is also an official football artist for USC and UCLA.
When not doing art, Naughton enjoys sports of all kinds, coaching high school wrestling, and is the strength coach and running backs/ linebackers coach for the football team. Terry says, “Back in the old days, I was a competitive Olympic weightlifter, too.”
Naughton won the Gold, Silver, and Bronze award in the prestigious P.N.W. International art show two years in a row. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy the afternoon with Terry at his Artist Reception. Hear how he began sketching at an early age and was encouraged by his teachers to later become the creator some of Disney’s best loved animated characters.
