FEBRUARY ART SHOW: Maria Louisa Dominguez

February 3-28, we are thrilled to see the return of the beautiful paintings and photography of Maria Louisa Dominguez to the San Carlos Branch Library.   Born in El Centro and raised in Calexico, California, Maria graduated from Imperial Valley College with an Associate Degree in Business. She tells us, “I retired from my professional career in 2002, and moved to San Diego, California. It wasn’t until I moved to San Diego that I discovered my attraction to art, and began experimenting with my abilities. I took several photography classes at Grossmont College, many watercolor classes at Cuyamaca College, oil painting at Andrea Rushing Academy, and pastel classes at Lakeside Adult Education.

Since 2002, I have traveled to many countries throughout the world, including Italy, Greece, Asia, Mexico, Spain, France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South America. Many of my subjects for painting and photography are taken from these locations.  I am grateful for all the instructors and instruction which instilled in me a desire and willingness to explore the different media of painting and to improve my skills as a painter and photographer.”
