YOUR Vote Counts!

This year, the San Carlos Branch Library will NOT be a POLLING venue, but it, and all San Diego Public Libraries will be Mail Ballot Drop-off locations.

Click to answer all of your voter registration and voting by-mail or in-person questions.  Please, VOTE EARLY!

Mail ballots will start being mailed out October 5, 2020, to all San Diego County Registered Voters.  Verify your voter registration (registration ends October 19) and track you ballot on line at

Voting by mail: Make your voting decisions and complete you ballot at home. Follow instructions for marking (voting) on your mail ballot
Place marked (voted) ballot in official return envelope and seal it.
SIGN and DATE outside of envelope – sign your name like it appears on your driver’s license or identification card. You must SIGN AND DATE your return envelope for your ballot to be counted! Promptly RETURN your ballot by mail starting October 5 (it must be received by election day), or drop off your completed and signed mail-in ballot at any of the 36 San Diego Public Library locations starting October 6, Monday-Friday, 10:30 am – 5:30 pm, and on Election Day, November 3, from 7:00 am – 8:00 pm.  Click drop off locations for 126 additional convenient drop off locations around the county.  Ballots may also be dropped off on election day at any polling place or at the Registrar’s office.

Voting in person: First, locate your polling location.  It will not be the same as in previous years, even if your address is the same. Your 2020 location will be noted on the ballot information mailed to you. Bring your mask! Mail-Ballot Voters who decide to VOTE at their polling place must BRING their Mail Ballot to be SURRENDERED, then a new ballot will be issued. In-person voting begins at the Registrar’s office October 5, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. through November 2, and on Election Day, November 3, 7:00 a.m-8  p.m.  Your assigned polling location will be available for in-person voting on Saturday, October 31 through Monday, November 2, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, 7:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m.
