MAY 5: City-wide Essay Contest Award Ceremony

The four Grand Prize Winners at each grade level of the City-wide, 19th Annual Student “Writing For Literacy Library Essay Contest,” will be announced during a ceremony on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the Balboa Park Club. Each student will receive a monetary award plus a laptop computer courtesy of Computer 2 SD Kids. One student whose essay was judged as the best overall  will also win $500 in memory of contest founders Jack and Carolyn Winer.  Doors open at 6 p.m. and the ceremony starts at 6:30 p.m.  The San Carlos Branch Library and San Carlos Friends of the Library will be represented by local winners Meredith Eaton, a fourth grader at Green Elementary School, and tenth graders Victoria Crisologo and Noelle Stewart from Patrick Henry High School.  The community is welcome to attend in support of these talented young writers.
