20th Annual “Writing for Literacy Essay Contest” Winners are announced

It’s that time of year again. The winners of the 20th annual “Writing for Literacy Essay Contest” have been chosen. Wecome Sarah Hendy-Jackson

New to the San Carlos Branch Library, Hendy-Jackson was born in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Foothills town of Sonora, CA.  In 2005, Hendy-Jackson enrolled at UCSD—majoring in Literature and Linguistics, and then continued her graduate studies there in English Literature.  After discovering Library Science, she is rethinking her area of study. A part-time UCSD  instructor of freshman literature and composition, Hendy-Jackson has added Library Assistant to her resume and David Ege has asked her to assist him with  adult programing... October’s SCAVENGER HUNT: Pumpkin Who?

THERE WERE OVER  100 ENTRIES TO THE Pumpkin Who? CONTEST.  CONGRATULATIONS to CONNOR, age 6 whose entry was pulled to win the $26 gift card.  During the entire month of October, find the 9 costumes that Pumpkin is trying on in the library!  Then pick up an entry form, and draw the costumes on the pumpkins.  Entry forms can be picked up in the children’s area beginning October 1, and must be submitted by October 31.  All correct ballots... Congratulations to the nearly 500 patrons who signed up for the 2016, Read for the Win, Summer Reading Program at the San Carlos Branch Library.  Special kudos go to the over 300 readers who met their reading goals and won books and prizes.  Keep on reading!
