Born in a small town in Wisconsin, Gerry always had a love for nature, especially birds and animals. An engineer by profession, he found it natural to pay attention to details; this is exemplified by his art work.  In 1997, he began working in pen & ink; then he added watercolor to his drawings.   Photography was an outgrowth of his artwork, needing subject matter for his drawings. Gerry tells us,  “In the process of taking photographs, the exquisite beauty of God’s creatures overwhelmed me and photography became my primary art form of late. Most of my photographs are taken in San Diego County and national parks in the Southwest.”

“I was selected for solo exhibits at the Mission Trails Regional Park  Visitor Center in 2010 and 2016. I also exhibited at the California Open Wildlife Art Festival for several years beginning in 2011 and at the Fallbrook Art Center in 2014. I have received several awards in photo contests sponsored by Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation and San Diego Hospice. My photographs have been published in Birds and Blooms magazine, San Diego Audubon’s Sketches and several local publications. It’s a privilege to be selected to show some of my artwork in the San Carlos Branch Library.”
